Did Beyonce Help The 49ers?

Beyonce-Super-Bowl-PromoI had a good time watching the Super Bowl with a bunch of guys.  The Baltimore Ravens versus San Francisco 49ers.  Ten minutes into the game, we saw Baltimore take the game, they were strong, prepared, and were ready to win the Game.  The half time ended with the Ravens leading with 15 points.

Then something happened during half time. As people were being entertained by Beyonce, the power outage went out for 34 minute shortly after. Then all of a sudden the 49ers came back with an aggressive vengeance. They had built momentum.   A fresh vision in to the future, they refused to become a doormat, and gave the Ravens a fight for the title in the final minutes.

Even though the Ravens took the Cup home, there are things we can learn from the 49ers.  They had something in the second half that they did not have in the first half.  And that is Momentum.

In Sports, let us take Basketball for instance. When the opposing team is killing the scoreboard continuously and start developing a momentum as a Team, a good coach would call for a Timeout.

Why?  Because he is trying to stop the other Team’s momentum before it becomes too strong.  If he doesn’t, his team would probably not stand a chance to go against that force and lose the Game.

People don’t usually call Time outs when they are winning. They don’t pull out and rethink strategy.  They allow the momentum to become their platform to greater heights.

It seemed like the Ravens who had that momentum in the first half, were lacking that same momentum in the second half.  Strangely this principle applies in our day to day lives, as we sometimes allow some things to break our momentum. We may allow others or circumstances to call Time out on us, and as a result, we break our momentum.

I truly value the heart of the Apostle Paul when he wrote in Philippians 3:13-14

“No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead.  I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.”

When you have momentum on your side, the future looks bright, and obstacles appear small.  Paul is trying to convey the importance of focusing on the future, and allowing only that clear perspective to feed your life’s momentum.
